ah ok thanx man, did you shim the lsd up to make it tighter ?
LeeRoy, Thats exactly what i assumed when doing this... And i also checked any existing backlash before swapping the single legger out, and tried to improve slightly on this. I think i have, but i'll double check to be safe...
Fixeruperer,
Late model hilux...

i dont have a funny or cool signature.
hey,
I installed my lsd myself it was easy but then again it was an f series diff housing. It only had spacer shims on the sides and there were no adjustments to be made. I would be taking it to a professional to get it checked.
cheers
is that diff in the pics a LSD..it looks so much like my G series 4 pinion Open diff

The first pic is of a open center, the later pics are of the LSD...
No i didnt tighten them up, i left it original as they where from relatively late model hiluxes, so hoping they are still pretty tight... Doesnt need much, the car weighs nothing compared to a hilux...
Cheers,
Jase
Exactly what i thought...the second one looks like the open diff I took out of mine. It might have been an lsd since it did spin twins when the car was packed full of people, and just singles when there was no one in it, any way it was fair shit.Originally Posted by GA70H_92
This is a good guide to rebuilding a G series diff http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/gear_setup/
You use stuff called bearing blue to check the mesh pattern. It can be bought from any place like Repco , Motor Traders etc.
Can someone confirm if what ive installed is an LSD or a Open Center. My center looks nothing like the ones in that pic...
But it also looks totally different to my old open center... I'll be pissed if its open though, as i bought two of these as i was told they were LSDs...

Jase
from what i have seen and been through. you shouldnt be able to see any of the teeth in the centre. it should look like its a clossed unit. what car is out of if you know.
