Default Shortening F series diff! - Where...how much?

Im looking into getting my JDM RT132 GT F series shortened, currently 1410 i believe face to face. And has the 50mm bearing in it.

The diff is in an ra28, and i would like to fit some decent rims under it and places that want to do it are few and far between, have tried final drive and they were reluctant and told me 700 to shorten the housing and re-spline the axles.
    So my questions are...

    • Are the F series axles ok for re-splining?
    • how much have others done it for?
    • where would people reccommend to get it done?

if i were you i would sell that diff. its a good size for the sprinter/corolla people and would get decent money.
and if you are going 1j a g series would be a better place to start, with the money you get from selling the diff you could buy the g series with money left over to go towards the shortening.

Youll also find that youll only be able to either shorten 30mm or less, or 60mm or more, but nothing in between.

In which case, sell it to the E70/E80 Corolla guys and get an MS112 disc brake setup narrowed as it is 1450mm.

The mounts have already been cut and changed for ra28, and diff has been in car for some time...
    Just looking at shortening it.

I'd say you've got the option of getting properly offset rims for the 1410 width or selling the f as a boltin affair for another 23/28 and getting an early g series 1370mm diff from a hilux and redoing the whole jobby

Yep - i mean i'd have paid up to about a grand to bolt in a F series.... but it only cost 700 to build (as i had a spare housing) so as long as you sourced a hilux g and spare housing first you shouldn't come out too bad with a 8" housing and 1370 width

A wrecker is open at this time of night?! OMGWTF - they close at like 5 in NSW
Joking - no way you should be paying more than 200 for a diff (complete) - i paid 175 and that was exxy. Best source one from a 4wd wrecker over here and ship it - you'll be lucky to pay more than 350 bucks
Hmm - hadn't factored in the discy bit though...
