Sheepers has done a magical job of adjustable spring perches in his celica! Visit this thread right here

Question, In the first example the spring seats were adjusted from the top. So effectivly adjusting the height that the body sits onto the spring rather then adjusting the height/point that the spring attaches to the unsprung components. Would this cause any issues? IE worry about the the spring not seating to the body but to a tube that was welded/bolted to the body?

I just wonder about the rigidy of it and if it likely to see high stress?

Besides the point that the lowest you can sit is the height of the spring, Is there anything inherently wrong with this setup?

What i was thinking last night...

If you wound it out to sit as high as possible, would a steel coil sleeve be able to take the stress?

Yeah, I dont know? With my planned setup (adjustment at bottom on diff) I was thinking to use a piece of front strut welded onto the top of the diff at the correct angle and then weld the adjustable ring to that, so the whole mount would be comparable to a stock strut in strength. Also, most of the loading should be in compression and very little in shear. At the top of compression i guess the spring would be curved a little which could load the joint in shear...

I think I'm just going to try it and see :-)

Esteban, not sure if you've noticed but Sheepers has now done this and vouches for it, from what i know, his is yet to shear and destroy the plannet...
