what car is it going into? most soarer dash's suffer the same fate as the ae86's do, cracked and fall appart. but ill measuer my spare when i get home if i remember![]()
hey guys, i'm just chasing the total length of a soarer dash, as i am looking to put a different dash into my car, and just seeing what my options are (from cars around the same era that share a similar floorpan)
if anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated

i'm not worried about a cracked one
it's going to go into an rt142 corona. It should be very similar in length...
just want the ease of a digi-dash
and don't worry about wiring etc... whole car is getting re-wired etc
just need a length
cheers

MA61 digital dash cluster should bolt into RT142

i have a ma61 digital dash cluster here and i can blow that myth right out of the water
i would need the whole dash setup to go with the cluster, and i think it's about 5mm longer than my current setup (so it could fit!)
i think the mz10 soarer dash is a bit sleeker for my operation
but if i get desperate, i will be using an ra60 dash setup to go with my cluster
Hmm, strange, coz I remember seeing a dash cluster from what I was told was a TT142, and it looked 100% identical to the MA61 one.

TT142 has different dash setup to rt142 mate
toyota were on drugs when they made corona's
Ahh, that would explain it

I have two digital clusters out of GZ20s if they're of any use to you. Dash long gone though.

thanks for the offer MoS
not sure if i will take you up on it tho!
I do already have an ma61 dash cluster that I bought 4+ years ago now, however I prefer the sleeker digital dashes found in the older soarers (it's square, not rounded)
i'm being really anal here, but finding an st141 digital dash is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, and soarers and supras came out with them in droves!
I will be posting up all my findings in the future to help out other corona fanatics (like myself)
Cheers

xcedricx - have you measured up your dash yet mate? no rush on it, just curious![]()
If you are going to put a digital dash into a car I'd suggest steering well clear from the 80's stuff.
I put a UZZ30 Soarer dash in my car, so much nicer to use than either the stock MZ10 or the MA61 dash. You can actually still read it when the sun shines on it, and the speedo doesn't bounce around like two 16 year olds when the parents are out.

i've had no problems with using my mates mz10 digital dash
he's got a 1jz-gte all hooked up to it to and the speedo is the most acurate one i've ever seen
the overhang of the dash also allows for easy reading of the cluster too, whilst i love the jzz30 digital dash, it's just too out of place in an 80's car
like, way too out of place. The whole car up to now has a very jap 80's theme to it, and i'm going to continue to work it that way.
Thank you for the suggestion tho mate![]()
hey mate, just been alittle wet to do so, were you looking for the overall width of the whole dash or just the dims. of the dash cluster its self, can get you both i also have a spare soarer dash (altho very cracked) with most of the panels and digital cluster.
will measure it up when i get home... with out getting soaked![]()
The accuracy of the speedo is nothing to do with the dash. All Toyota dashes use the same setup there.
What happens is at certain speeds (varies for all cars) the speedo will jump around up to 8kph. Happens between 65 and 70 in my Supra, happened around 50 and around 80 in my old car. Its purely the fault of the speedo cable. Speedo is rock steady everywhere else though, its just around a point or two it goes nuts.
Later dashes use electronic speedo sensors, so that completely eliminates that.
And I dont see how any electronic dash will ever look out of place in an 80's car!!
If anything they look out of place in the stock Soarer!
To me you can't get more 80's than an electronic dash.
(The MA70 dash is like something out of star-trek)

Although I did just remember a serious problem with the Z30 dash, the fuel guage requires a Z30 fuel sender, where as the MA61/MZ10 dash can just use any digital guage sender.
