Default jzx83(1jz) dies shortly after started with no engine codes :(

okay, so i recently used to have two check engine codes, 41 (tps) and 31(map). however i somehow managed to have them go away finally. however my 1jz is still not running right.

what i mean by not running right is that

    A) dies a few seconds after starting up (goes to a decent then dies maybe 2 seconds later)

    B) if i help the start up procedure by blipping large amounts of throttle the car is able to rev decently high with random breakup however and shortly after those short blips of throttle it will no longer respond to the throttle and die

i thought this issue was related to a tps sensor i had got off someone on a forum, however after messing with the calibration procedure via mk4 fsm, the check engine light went away and now i have nowhere else to look.

things i've tried to fix this issue.
    1) short pins fp and b+ in diagnostic connector thinking it maybe a fuel power problem
    2) added about 3 gallons of new 93 octane gas (before that it was 87octane 2 year old sitting gas

that's all i can think of for now. it is stil on the stock fuel pump, however the 7m before that ran fine with it.

    any ideas would be great.

    thanks

**edit: now that i think about it i'm leaning towards the fuel pump. guess i'l order that bad boy

Depending on who did the wiring there is no guarantee that 'Fp' in the diag box goes to the fuel pump....!

It sounds like a fuel pump / COR issue to me

I'd try tracing back to see if Fp does go to the fuel pump. I'd also try using a mulitmeter to measure the power at the fuel pump, and also powering the fuel pump directly at the rear of the car and see how that goes

    Cheers

    Fuel Pump.

Just run Fp+ and Batt and see if you can hear it pumping.

Otherwise check M-REL to see if it is connected to open the COR.

hmm, today i have tried shorting the fp and b+ circuit however i did not check to see if i heard or felt pressure in the line.

    i will double check that.

also,i must note that if i unplug the map and tps sensor, the car will idle indefinitely for as long as i have the key in the on position., however with any throttle input it of course dies (lack of sensors plugged in).

Well that would seem to indicate that its not the Fuel pump.

Unless the JZX83 does something funky with the COR and the MAP sensor, and its not getting the reading it wants so it closes the COR.
The MX83 uses the AFM for the same purpose.

i just realized that sometime between when i first got the car started after the inital wiring and now, i had removed the fp resistor box by the strut tower. next time i work on the car i will most definitely hook it back up or short the connector.
