    Default Another oil leak... 3sgte

    Hi guys..
    Im fairly new to toyotas..

Currently have a leak on the left hand side of the oil feed only.. seems to be the whole left side? leak is only minor but consistent..

Anyone want to take a stab at this one?

Which would it more likily be?rear main? oil feed? head gasket?

Not too familiar with the 3S but try giving it a good clean and watch it very closely, how much oil is it loosing (how often and how much do you need to top up oil?). Some one else would be able to give you a better idea of 'weak points' to look for.

EDIT: having a closer look, there doesnt look to be much from the oil feed itself (protrusion in block - the flat face that the oil feed screws into looks quite clean) and seems to be coming more from the gearbox? Rear engine seal?

Also, any reason why your manifold doesnt use the right most stud?

    ^^ thanks Zop...

I did clean it to make sure it wasnt the feed line and left it.. But i will clean it again tommorrow and see if i can see where its coming from.

It scares me since it doesnt look to be the feed line..
I am wanting some opinions to see what else is in that area apart from headgasket?
Could the rear main leak oil around there?

    regards,
    Dan

If it was the rear main leaking the oil would be coming out between the bell housing and the sump.

You are going to have to follow the oil trail up to where it stops.
Just remember oil won't normaly run up hill (Unless it sprays up hill).
Have you checked your oil feed line for pin holes?

Quite common oil leaks are the valve cover gaskets and the distributor o-ring, but these normaly run down the intake side of the engine.
