Might i add that after the bellhousing was machined the input shaft went all but about 3mm into the spigot bearing.

    Thread DIG!!!

Is it possible to 'just' drill/tap/weld a - 8 fitting on the back of the head etc to drain to the sump/block? AKA Smallport 4AGE or aftermarket RB25/26 oil drains etc..

interested in looking into the gen 3/4 3SGTE - IS200 route rather than Beams + turbo etc..

from everything i've seen & heard the AZ6 is 'about' the same strength as a W box, although both boxes came in the E10 chassis.

The AZ6 limits are most often reached/surpassed in the S15 GT-R, and that is typically a modified SR20DET. The J160 case is different(stronger) then the cases used in the S15, the Miata, and the RX8.

If you kept shock loads to a minimum you can likely make it survive... but just as a point of interest... the new GT86/FRS/BRZ uses a newer version of the AZ6, and one person who competes with it, has broken 3......

OST - any thoughts on an external oil drain from the head to block etc? i know you are over port modifications.. ever done something like that? i havn't personally dug around a gen 3/4 head to see where the best spot would be, i'm sure there is somewhere where this could work..

My advice... go with a blacktop BEAMS.
It may be a tad more expensive to buy and then put new rods & pistons in a BEAMS, but there will be a lot less screwing about with mix & match parts, and the end result will be a hell of a lot more reliable.
