Arrow Flywheels and Clutches for the mighty 2Lxx

Anyone know if there are any differences in 2L Flywheels and Clutches over the years? What might those changes be?

We're trying to organise a 2LTE into our hilux from a MarkII (xx90) auto.

We currently have an 85 2L non turbo with a buggered clutch (1/2 reason the engine came out, and then we stumbled upon the 2LTE for possibly good money)

My EPC tells me "not available" when I try and get a part number for the Mark II 2LTE flywheel when I select it (presumably as MarkII's never came 2L manual) so I can't cross reference the part or check the crank configuration until we get the motor.

I'm worried the crank might have changed bolt numbers/ spacing etc, similar to the 4AGE vs 7A cranks... does anyone know?

Also, we tried sourcing a 2LTx clutch from Coventry's and the guy asked, "which one? there are 7" ... and the prices were extortionate. Was planning on getting a 2LTx (tursbros) clutch regardless of engine conversion happening if they're (presumably) compatible... Any advice here?

    Thanks sexy toymod members

Oh forgot to add, yes, before anyone gets excited, this thread is about Diesels... Move along, nothing to see here performance wise

We've started making biodiesel, so the hilux gets extra love

most of the 2LTEs i've seen have a poxy dualmass flywheel which is $$$$$. i would just use the NA flywheel and a heavy duty clutch. definitely check the flywheel. i have seen some success with 3L flywheels.
so much stuff. so little time.

Ok so the 2L has a 225mm clutch on a 6 bolt crank/flywheel, but the 2LTE has an 8 bolt. The 2LTE it turns out is basically a 3L stroked to 2.4L. The head is completely different (so no bolty bolty for manifolds etc) as its cams with buckets as opposed to rockers in the 2L. This probably accounts for it being alot quieter.

We ended up doing the following, due toe the possible future 2LTE conversion:

    $266 - 240mm 2LT HD Clutch Kit (Exide - Nicks Performance Clutch)
    - Clutch Cover, Clutch Disc, Spigot Bearing, Throwout Bearing
$35 - Flywheel machining for Existing 2L flywheel
    - machined out to 240mm (NPC)
$220 redrilling, tapping and balancing 2L flywheel to suit 2LT HD Clutch kit (Mendham Engineering)

While that may look expensive, we can now bolt a stock 3L (2LT) flywheel under our clutch when we convert it, and it should all be apples. Total saving is $266 - 220, so it's heading towards wilbo scrouge territory, but nonetheless money is money.

FWIW NPC want $375 for a brand new 3L flywheel, but we'll probably look for a second hand unit. Also we can still use the 2L flywheel for a normal 225mm clutch, however this will probably be sold along with the rebuilt 2L when we convert it.

    Update: The clutch rocks!

Also, NPC's grinding/facing machine put a surface on our clutch that was 7thou out of flat. According to Mendham Engineering was about 4thou too much so they rectified it at no additional expense. I was worried at first as the surface had a lathed finish (as opposed to the rough finish from the flywheel grinder)...

However, it works a treat :-)

Mendham balanced the entire assembly too.

I had to make a custom clutch slave rod to get the fork adjustment in the right spot too. No biggie though.
