Default need help, anyone have a turbo diesel 4-runner?

does anyone here know where i can get a workshop manual on a 91 4-runner turbo diesel?
    2.4L

we are having dramas atm, as the car wont start.
have checked all sensors, fuel pump (had it tested aswell) done everything we could think of.
we disconnected some sensors, and did a diagnosis check, to have the ECU tell us no fault codes...
we suspect maybe a faulty ecu because of that?

    any help apprecaited thanks....

    I have a Hilux-Surf 2.4L Turbo Diesel 22RE

Ecu isnt faulty.. Have you tried pumping the diesel pump inside the engine bay? You grab the lid and pump it a few times till you feel it pressure. but diesel normally takes upto 10-15 seconds to start anyway. Also the battery voltage must be very strong or else it wont start

    Max Elerys (australian edition)

    we'll you've tried everything.. hmm

Not sure if that will be much help?

Try going over the terminals, clean the contacts, Try to get the air out of the fuel system. Other then that Im stuck. If you can wait a few hours ill ring my dad his o/s and its his car his had the same problem before and I cant remember what happened to rectify it other then now when starting you have to wait for the glow plug to heat up

Dude if you are having trouble starting a diesel, you really need to understand how they work. The only thing a diesel engine needs to get started is fuel and heat. No spark plugs means the fuel inside the "combustion" chamber needs to produce heat to convert to energy and thus power, without actually combusting (ie the fuel must burn). Diesel is a slow burning fuel, and does not "combust" like petrol. It therefore requires heat to burn the fuel and produce power. Glow plugs are there to heat your fuel enough when the engine is cold to start it. And as long as you have a started motor winding over, that is the only electrics you will need. If the glow plugs are suffering badly and not heating up the fuel enough, boil up some water and put some in the radiator and slowly pour over the injectors to start to heat the engine and fuel up. The engine will start provided nothing is wrong with it internally, and provided there is fuel supply all the way up to the injectors (there cannot be any air in the system). The reason there is a primer on your fuel pump is to suck the fuel up to the pump, where there will be a bleed off point to get the air out. Then you keep winding over the engine and bleed the fuel filter, then bleed each injector whilst continually winding over. The engine will attempt to start once you get a few injectors bled, and its all smooth sailing from there. Hope this enlightens you a little.

check to see if glow plugs are starting

if its done alot of kms then just replace the glowies

ive worked on afew 2lte and have wired them up in other cars

they have a fuel cut solenoid on the injection pump

try cracking the lines to the injectors to see if fuel is comin out

if fuel comes out of all 4 lines then u have glow plug probs

    the ecu doesnt control injection
just the timing of the fuel to the injectors

and meters it so if u have fuel im guessing ecu is ok

diesles love aerostart so spray some of it down intake and if it starts then its a fuel problem

If its the glow plugs/pre heater thats the problem, some aerostart down the intake will be enough to get it going it ignites easyer than diesel and thus needs less heat

new glow plugs in, but the car will jsut crank and crank, and not start.
if glow plugs were usually out, the car will eventually start, as we had the same problem with our diesel hiace, where the plugs were shot, but the car still started after a couple of cranks.

the 4runer doesnt start at all, jsut keep cranking

pump tested, but no fuel out of the injectors.

was wondering if i anyone knows where i could get a wiring diagram of the 2lte motor??

Cant help you with the diagram, but all diesels work on the same principle. If there is no fuel up to the injectors, you will need to bleed the fuel system or it will never run!

well then it hasnt been bled properly, or you have a blockage or air leak somewhere. Check how dirty your fuel filter is, might give you an indication.
