Do a diagnostics check.
My 4AGZE MR2 had a flat spot when excellerating. Diagnostics revealed a dud TPS.

Hello I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with an interesting problem my GA61 SupraXX has. It has been idling strangely for some time now and through some pretty exhausting testing I have come to the conclusion that it has something to do with the TPS.
The motor hunts at idle ranging from 800 to 1500 rpm which makes for an interesting ride as well as some funny looks from other drivers when you are sitting at the lights. The car goes ok under power with a bit of a flat spot at around 3000rpm. I guess what I am asking is if anybody else might think that a faulty TPS might be to blame for this?
Please offer some suggestions folks

I had the exact same problem with my 1GGEU, but it blew up, so I never bothered to sort it, now have a similar problem with the GTE, it idles well high, however Ive noticed when the engine is proper hot, it idles at a correct level, only seems to be an issue, when cool or warming up?

Hey It seems to be a little less obvious once the engine is warmed up a bit. I also suspect the ISC valve, which can stick a bit if it gets dirty or the engine does not run for a while. Keep the ideas coming in folks and thanks for your input!

Did you have a look a Z2TT post a few day ago i think most idle problems seem to be related to the ISC valve gummed up with oil.
Have you cleened it?

Hi Case, yep the ISC clean is the next on my list. Thanks for you help.

I know this has been covered, but I'd be going with the ISCV. They're notorious for getting clogged, and a lot less reliable than the relatively simple TPS.

Yeah thanks bloke, I'm thinking that the ISCV is the culprit.

Well the ISCV is fine so it looks to be the TPS or even the AFM. Any people with the above parts for a 1GGE gen1 please let me know.

It is the TPS after all I fear. I am wondering if the TPS on the 1GGE/U is similar or could be substituted with another TPS from say a 1GGTE or ? ????

Just contact SSS automotive in Sydney, Im sure they would have 1GGEU or at least parts sitting around somewhere.

Yeah thanks Andy, I have some replacement parts sorted out now, but it may just be that a GZE is in the wings for the XX as well.

Ah FFF's sakes!!!!
Still no joy after checking oxy sensor, afm, TPS![]()
Sorry folks but I have to vent somewhere.... Guess I will just keep isolating sensors and checking for intake/air leaks. At least it will run enough to get it on the truck back home to the pilbara, got a 1ggze waiting in the wings if the accursed afm gen 1 1GGE refuses to play nice.
