oh cool thanks for that, its a bit hard to make out lol oh well ill see how i go.
them wires should be connected to a big green plug unless it's cut
Previous Rides: JZA80, GA70 GT, RA63 GT x2, TA61 GT, TA63.
yea they are but that plug obviously plugs into the factory harness the car came out of, this is in a T18. the black wires are sorted just the yellow and orange one that have a plug i dunno where they go.
Its been a few years since I wired up a stock 3T GTE ECU but from memory those wires maybe for the knock control unit. Have you got a pic of the plug on the end of those wires?
Do you have that ECU as well? The engine will run fine without it hooked up. The knock sensor and knock control ECU run independant of the main EFI unit.
Cheers,
Simon
i think your right simon, i got pics of the plug and there the big green one but there like 4 on the ignitor
Previous Rides: JZA80, GA70 GT, RA63 GT x2, TA61 GT, TA63.
oh cool nah running a microtec, that makes sense about them being apart of the knock control i didnt think of that, thanks. ill take a pic tomorrow of the plug just to make sure.
If you have a microtech then theres a good chance you dont need the ignitor at all. What model Microtech is it?
Cheers,
Simon
MT-4 fuel only.
hey guys, sorry to dig up and old thread, but i am currently piecing together the wiring on my 3tgte. but i am questioning myself about the two black wires coming from the igniter. i am assuming they are earths but i am not to sure..seeing as there are two of them though it was a bit odd.
Also wondering about the brown/fawn wire on the 2 pin plug (brown and yellow), the yellow wire goes to the black/red wire on pin 18 of the ecu plug. but i have no idea where the brown wire goes to.
on the harness i recieved the brown wire had been disconnected/removed but i am not sure if that was suppose to happen. cheers guys any help would be awesome.

if you don't live far mate you can come look at my engine and wiring?
one of the black wires on the ignitor connect to one of the coils
the other black wire (both black wires on same side of ignitor) connect to a green plug then connects to the other coil.
Previous Rides: JZA80, GA70 GT, RA63 GT x2, TA61 GT, TA63.
hey mate, cheers, i may just do that. but for now maybe you could tell me a bit more.
both of my black wires have been cut. (ie no plugs)
it sounds like you mean that one of the black wires connects to the negative side of the 1st coil.
and the second black wire is connected to the neg side of the 2nd coil.
----(does it matter which black wire goes to which coil, or is what i think you saying ----wrong)
----------------that doesnt make sense to even me..lets try another way.
ignition from key - + on coil (i think)
blue and green to knock control sensor
brown (on left of igniter) to coil negative
red & white to dizzy
yellow (right of dizzy with another brown wire) go to black red (ignition on ecu plug)
Black from front right hand side of igniter - no idea (possible neg side of coil)
black from rear right hand side of ignitor - no idea (possible neg side of coil)
i am assuming this is wrong so someone please correct me. cheers. Jamie
ignition from key - positive coil
blue & green - knock comp
brown (leftside of igniter) - positive coil
red & white - dizzy
yellow (right side of igniter) ecu ignition signal (black red wire) ???
black - neg of first coil ???
black - neg of second coil ???
guys i am thinking some of these are wrong. but if someone could have a look at there set up and let me know that would be a HUGE help. cheers Jamie
final question, can the engine run with only one coil, or if not, does the other coil require an ignition feed as well. cheers again.
