box is no longer a worry, ( using the std auto for now ) how ever if any body out there has any pictures of there or another lexus into hiace van converson could they PLEASE email them to xlr8_07(a)hotmail.com ( using (a) insteed of @ as an anti spam measure ) or if anybody has any good tips, or a template. pics of the mounts. while im at it, can one modify a front sump to a rear sump ? ( cut and paste style even ? - including exteding the pickup of corse ) - i do not get my engine for a week yet so i have not yet seen it nor know the sump shape well enough to know if this is a dum question.

I think most diesel diff's have a lower ration, Hiace (I think) start from 4:3 and go up. I would stick with the auto, but that's my personal opinion.

sounds like a good project, I have a courier come to work that has a Ford Transit Van with an LS1 in it, he reckons its cheaper to run than the V6 TD that came out of it.

Yeah the 1uz will slot into the hiace, hard to imagine but it does fit with a slight milling to the Throttle body so you can close the engine cover.

There is a fella in new zealand who is running his 1uz hiace with the standard petrol engine gearbox (g55?)

but the diesel manual box's are recomended as they are supposed to be stronger. Cant qoute the model of the gearbox as i dont know what it is. You will need custom engine mounts and custom bell housing. There is another fella in NZ that can make these for you as a reasonable price.

Also you will have to do something about your diesel fuel tank and lines. I hear the easiest way to go is putting an EFI hiace fuel tank and fuel lines put in. The stock intank efi fuel pump is sufficient for the 1uz if i remember correctly.

Abit of a job, but well worth it!

im prety sure the standard boxes are no good for big hp. my mate has 2.7L 99 hiace that he has turbo'd and hes been thru a few boxes at only about 300rwhp. for the petrol tank in my 1.5jz powered hiace the 98 on efi tank bolts straght in.
you just plug the sender in to your plug from your hiace and your fuel guage works. the stock pump will probably be alright.
my radiator is the desiel version wich bolts in and is three row rather than two and that keeps the 3L cool

and is a family member to the R154 (just close ratio)
so yer guys it will be strong enough to handle a 1uz even a twin turboed 1uz
