User changable User Titles

Yes but only after users have a reasonable amount of reputation or are club members / sponsors etc.

at firstview i was against it, but since ppl will put down their car as their name, in time they might change their car so they should br able to change it when they have enuff reputation points.

It's not the username that is changable only the title underneath where yours says Toymods Car Club Member.

yeah i would only allow it for club members myself. If we already have the group setup that has club members only allowed to view certain sections (eg, members rides), then would it not also be possible to only allow that group to modify their user title?

I also found there is a character limit with the user title... for instance i wanted "Toymods Social Secretary", but it blanked out Secretary with asterisks..... is he limit 23 characters?

nup - its not a character limit - it doesnt like the word Secretary!!!

There is a censor section to put in words that are not allowed to be used for the title. I actually put in all of the board related ones there which is why you couldn't get secretary. I need to enable the bypass for moderators on the censored words so we can have the correct board member titles.

It certainly is possible to make this available only to members but the more I think about it the less I like it. I think we leave it as Toymods Car Club Members, and Forum Members or something else like that to distinguish between club members and the others.

well we have some time to discuss it and decide... it would be cool to have, but too easy to abuse. Plain Jane titles will do the job just fine....

I think this should be a field reserved for comments of note, ie board positions, forum sponsors or on probabtion. I think its value as a moderation tool exceeds its coolness for people to make up their own.

Rod is on the right track there, from other forums that use the same software this section is like a rank of office that is earned.

Does the user title change with the reputation (or be set to) as this is what appears to happen on other forums I have seen.
