i've been told that its best to use OEM belts as they are the only one's that fit correctly![]()
Hi all,
What have people done for buying replacement 1uz timing belts?
Are there different length timing belts for different engines?
Are they cheaper from the US?
As an example, I found this available with the idle tensioners too.

I used a genuine toyota timing belt. costed $67.
The timing belt idler bearings cost alot as toyota only sell the whole assembly. (there are two idlers, one costs $244, the other costs $72)
But you can just press out the old bearings and get a bearing shop to match them up...
The timing belt tensioner itself was $102.
If you are changing the timing belt, i'd also recommend changing the water pump (dont forget to get the orings and toyota sealant). (Water pump - $159, orings <$10, sealant ~$30)
Note: These are the list prices of the parts, Give James Sloane at Castle Hill Toyota a ring, he will sort you out. (Toymod Members also get a discount.)

I used all Dayco stuff.
$200 for belt + cam/crank seals + both tensioner bearings.
$120 for tensioner itself.
Yes you can get it all off eBayUSA.
A friend paid about $160USD for all of the above and a waterpump.
I'm just not sure on the quality of the US stuff. But I am happy to trust the Dayco gear.
