Well, I've never really looked that closely. I was thinking it's from the uni's in some way shape or form, but I really have no idea.

Couldn't hurt to revisit it. Would probably be good to have it steering properly before it goes off to the exhaust shop, but hey, you can't win them all! :-)

Check that your unis aren't binding (too big an angle) if it is you can remove some metal to get rid of the knock but i wouldn't take much off as it is a structural item.

Are non PS and PS uni's interchangeable with the steering shafts?

Could some slide some verniers over their ke70 steering shaft splines and a do a spline count for me please?

Yeah, thanks Linden. I kinda thought it could be angle causing it, I'm gonna have a good look at it when I've got nothing other than doing my washing to do..

same provided it was a light vehicle, ie ea86 ps and non ps are the same size.

toyota changed the spline size on large or commercial vehicles to a much bigger size but i havn't measured what either of them are.

So far i can confirm that the pinion spline for PS ae86 is the same as *A70 pinion spline, but i was not sure if the shaft spline was the same. Likewise if ke70 shaft spline is the same PS ae86 spline. So really all i need to do is swap uni's and i can use an ordinary ke70 shaft with PS uni's?

hey guys, following this pretty closely....
just a quick question sort of on topic and sort of off topic. im thinking of using a power rack off an ae82 on a ke70 crossmember. was wondering if the ke70 steering column will fit into the rack. or if i will most likely need a diffrent column. any ideas? cause if someobody can confirm the ke70 column wont work with it i wont grab 1 from the wreckers and only take the crossmember

Where the hell does that bit between the 2 unis come from?

Tried ke70 and Ae92 corolla, ma70 supra, Gx81 Cressida, 5 wreckers and the quokka. Still nothing thats long enough or comes apart. ;kuzhsdgfasdvgsdvibhasdil

I tried the seachable epc and found that the steering linkage between the rack and colum can be different in the ke70.

The colum and the lower part that joins to the rack are 1 piece or in some models they are 2 peace.

Where the hell do the 2 peace colums come from???!?!?!?!!?!?

I used the factory KE70 column but there is a joint in it that can be extended with a hammer

I'm using a supra JZA70 colum so i can use that bit
