Default w55/7/8 mating up to an 18rg

    Hi All,

I'm trying to find out how to mate up and 18rg to a w55/7/8 - ie which bell housing to use. It'll more than likely be a w55. I've searched through the forums and found information that seems to contradict a bit. Will a w50-18r bell housing fit, or do i need a w55-20/1/2r bell housing. I know that in the ra63 celicas they had the 18rgue with the w55 and i've seen a few 18r's on here with the w55 behind it but not much mention of the bell housing.

    Any help is much appreciated.

You will need a bellhousing from a R series to W55/57/58! RA60 (21RC) and RA65 (22RE), RT142 (22RE) will prbly be the most likely donors...

    w50 bellhousing wont fit a W55/56/57/58/

    you need a 22r/21r equipped W55/57/58

i have a complete gearbox (think its w58 - havent confirmed ratios) with a R series bellhousing if you are interested.

    where are you located?

you also need to remove a loacting pin the 21/22r bellhousing as the 18r doesnt have the hole in the block

What he said. W50 bellhousings will not work.

EDIT: beaten to it, stupid slow forums.

You could potentially source the RA63 bellhousing (like my KE70 runs) out of NZ. Might know someone selling a couple.
