is it a gravity feed gun or a paint pot?
we primed the rolla with primer putty and it came off the gun sweet, used a 2mm needed.
next we try to put some paint on, using a 1.4mm needle and its terrible. no matter how we adjust it the paint comes out really thin with mostly air coming out.
the primer wasnt thinned, the paint is thinned with 1.5 thinners to 1 paint as per the tin. the gun was properly cleaned out after the primer but when painting it just doesnt want to work. when you turn the air pressure down on the gun and close it then open it again momentarily it works really well with good flow but then goes shit again.
any ideas?
is it a gravity feed gun or a paint pot?
As I only have experience with gravity feed guns because I have just about finished spraying my car. Try changing the gun filter as most primer putty's clog them up real bad. If that fails, I need to know what brand of paint you are using, brand of gun, etc, etc.
It's a gravity gun. We are using acrylic paint.
the gun is a wallwick. no filter in the gun
there should be a filter between the pot and the gun. Inside the threaded section. I am sure wallwick's have them?
Im pretty good with a paint brush and I have a mini roller lying around somewhere....at least that way you will actually get some track time this year!!![]()

If there doesn't seem to be enough paint coming out with the smaller needle, then try the larger one again. I've never found that needle size makes a great amount of difference.. i usually just use the 2mm needle. Check that the fluid cap air vanes aren;t blocked, and the paint inlet also.
Is the needle pulling back fully? I had a similar problem just a few days ago.. the needle had separated where the trigger step is.
there were filters in the kit but never thought about them much, i for some reason assumed they went in the air inlet on the gun, but i will definately put one in.
i will also check the hole in the lid, didnt even think about that and it sounds like a likely cause considering how small it is.
ok just went in the garage and the lid breather was infact blocked. cleaned it out with a pin and now its ready to go, also put the filter in the top of the gun reay for use.
was gonna paint today but looks like im going out for a bbq and some halo
thanks for the help guys, if anyone wants to see how it goes check the SR thread in my sig![]()
