    Default Vacumn lines on 1G?

There are two lines which i have become a mystery for me after the conversion into the ra28. The engine runs well but i couldn't remember what to do with these lines. Help needed. They are visible in this photo, one comes off the IC piping, the other is bundled with it. It almost seems like they head down to where the Power Steering used to be?

If the line at the top is not used for a MAP sensor, just blank it off. As you say the power steering pump needs to sense vacuum to increase force at idle speed for parking.

    cheers Chuck.

how does it determine RPM from vacuum? and why would it need 2 lines?

the lines do go to the power steering pump but i always though it went on a pressure valve which bled a small amount of extra air into the engine(idle up) when the power steering line pressure was really high (ie on the stoppers).

basically to stop the engine stalling when you turn to 'lock'

Brett is right, the PS pump has a 'vac switch' on the back of it that it opens when the PS pressure is high... (i.e. full lock). This can help stop the engine stalling when doing U turns etc.

The PS pump doesn't sense the vac, it simply bypasses the throttle body to make it idle up.

    Cheers
