Hi,
have just changed my diff from a 4.1single spinner to 3.9 LSD. am having troubles with the auto gearbox not performing as it should. ie not downshifting when it should, upshifting too early..etc
therefore making it sluggish to drive.
because the 1ggte produces torque so high in the rev range (and nothing before that) is there anything i can do to make it shift normally (as it was fine before). Aside from changing the diff ratio back to 4.1.
cheers
I'm guessing your speedo now reads slower than what you are actually travelling at...
the gearbox probably thinks it's shifting exactly when it should, since the controller guesses speed from the revolutions of the output shaft.
I've gone the other way with my 7mgte x83... 3.9 single spinner to a 4.1 lsd. The gearbox shifts at the same point on the speedo that it used to, but my actual roadspeed is lower. The gearbox shifts in the same places as before though.
you can get speedo gear adjuster thingies made, which will make the speedo read correctly (and thus gearbox too)
having said all that, i'd say that part of the 'sluggishness' is just the difference in ratio (torque production and multiplication and engine revs at a given speed and stuff)
