    The 3T GTE came with a reduction starter motor - the 3T did not. Yes you can use whichever starter motor with the, but in one case, depending on which starter and which bell housing (sorry cannot recall which) you need to use through bolt and nut. ie: the bell housing didn't have the clearance to feed the bolt into the starter.

    but am i reading correct that a 2T/3T bellhousing will fit a 1g motor to a W5X box?

    This is correct IF you have the 2T/3T to W5X bellhousing - ie it is no good getting the T50 2TG bellhousing and thinking that it will bolt up. One other thing too - the 1G bell housings are more readily available than the 2T/3T.

    1G-EU, 1G-GExx. # 28100-15040... rated at 1.0kw

    3AU. # 28100-15040... rated at 1.0kw.. ( found in AE70E,AE85,AA60,AT140..)

    3AU/4AU. # 28100-15060...

    3T-GTE. # 26142-27020... rated at 0.8kw
    3T-GTE. reduction drive. #28100-27030... rated at 1.0kw

    3T. # 28100-27060... rated at 1.0kw.. ( found in TA62.. carina.. )

    4AC. Manual. # 28100-15060.. ( found in AE71 )
