Default Hooking up JDM Mx83 Headlights - Need HELP !!

    Hi guys

I have just bought some JDM Mx83 Headlights for my ADM Mx83

The JDM Headlights have a Yellow Jzx81-Style fog light inside this headlight

How do i power this Fog Light considering the ADM Headlight loom only has one plug for the Main Headlight bulb?

Do i run a Jzx81 Headlight loom as im guessing is the closest and best option to use?

Has anyone else done this conversion?

    Josh

My GX81 lights have a twin pin foglight.
I just added a relay to switch fused 12v from the battery to the foglights with a switch in cabin.

They are illegal to run with headlights. Run them that way at your own risk.

If you want to run them with the lights, just use a relay triggered my the headlights, and a fused 12v battery feed.

But as Chris said, illegal to have them switched like that. They're only meant to be used under conditions that warrant it (fog/rain)

Add a relay and switch. I did that in the Camry to operate like any fog light (i.e. only operate with parkers). The bulbs will be H3C which is pretty unique in Australia but a regular H3 will fit in the hole but you just need to earth them to the housing as opposed to the pin should the bulbs blow.

    The rules are parking lamps..

But low beam also requires parking lamps to be on so you can have:
    - low beam and fog lights (with parking lamps) on at the same time OR
    - fog lights with parking lamps.

Low beams and Fog lamps is stupid.

Infact, being in Queensland foglights are just stupid fullstop.
They are designed for use in fog, which obviously you have never driven in because you would realise how stupid an idea it is to have low beams and foglights on.

Foglights + Parkers with the foglights on a switch so they can be turned off is the ONLY way to go.

Rubbish. JDM runs them exactly like Takai said. Separate switch that allows them to turn on when the parkers are turned on. Thus the fog lights can be on whenever the parkers or main beams are on, but turn off when lights turn off.

I'm not having a go at you, but please try to understand what you are trying to do. There is no such things as a "headlight loom" on either the JZX81 or MX83. There is a front body loom with encompasses the headlights. This loom plugs into the cowl loom (which extends up the inner guards) near the battery and the ABS actuator (the front corners of the engine bay). The JZX81 loom is sufficiently different to the MX83 loom that you can't just replace that front loom.

Headlights and any lights are really a piece of piss to get working and not a lot of thought needs to be put into it - certainly not anything near the effort of swapping car looms.
Lights need + and - and they work. You supply that, usually through relays, and it's the switching philosophy that everyone is talking about.

No, its stupid rice crap, just like your other MX83 thread.

You WILL be defected for BOTH items on the road, and every time someone with an MX83 or for that matter any modified car gets defected/booked/labelled as a hoon it makes it harder and harder for the rest of us.
