    Question 1ggte bov

hi everyone, im currently in the process of getting a 1ggte running on a GRA carby and have been advised to have a bov to avoid issues with throttle body and turbo damage.
now then, my first thought was just get a "fucken whoosh!" type bov, however ive heard theyre illegal, but cant work out why
so second thought became, get a plumb back. my issue is, where does it plumb back to? can i simply plumb thru into the exhaust?

i can understand the atmo venting bov being illegal in cars with an AFM, but not in a car with a carby, anyone got any ideas?

    cheers guys, andrew

It's illegal because the air has a small amount of oil vapour from the turbo seals etc. which the EPA deems as pollution.

You vent it back into the intake before the turbo, usually you'd do it just after the AFM, not that you have one, but you get the idea.

    ok, cheers for that
so with the plumbing back, what sort of diameter hose would i be seeing and can it go into the rubber hose (coz thats all i have) or do you need a proper fitting into a metal bit of tubing?

That will depend on your particular BOV. So long as it plumbs back and doesn't leak there shouldn't be any issues.

Not off topic but what if you have a plumbback BPV that is vented?

a workshop never gave me back the plumb pipe to vent it back into the take. so its running capped off though it makes an apple crunch noise on hard gear changes lol.

Exactly the same, even if it was designed to plumb-back, but it's not, then its no different to a venting one, although it might be a little quieter because it doesn't have the trumpet on the outlet of it. It's still illegal though.
