Default 3SGE aux-air valve under throttle

    hi folks,

am helping a local guy get his 3SGE-powered RA40 on the road.

It has a custom plenum but uses the original throttle. Any suggestions as to what these plug/connect to, or their purpose in life (and can any be blocked off and ignored)?

B, C & D all connect to each other somehow - which is weird.
A is obviously a coolant line so is being ignored
C we originally assumed to air to feed an idle-up valve (the engine loom only has a pair of wires for a simple air-valve not a stepper motor)

Pic of engine bay showing how it is setup

    cheers and tia,
    Charles.

That looks very similar to a 4AGE idle air bypass thingy. If they are the same then once the coolant line is disconnected then it is useless. Essentially it just allows a certain amoutn of air past depending on the coolant temp. Also the bypassed air will flow through to after the throttle through a hidden passage in the throttle casting, not one of the labelled hoses.

If you take it off the throttle you'll see pretty quickly how it works. And I know of several guys who have just plated it off and run without it. Clearly cold idle can suffer though.

PS is D also a coolant line? The coolant needs an in and out.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.
Drift Volvo. Was fun. 2JZ next time.

is weird - but D blows thru to the other connectors (and a port inside the throttle) when i blow thru it. Maybe it has been gutted by previous owner.

agreed, I think the easy thing will be to plug up the lot and up the idle a bit

Confirming D is also meant to be a coolant line.. it's weird how it looks perfect where the other one looks like it's had a hard life though.

remove and blank it off. Myself, i just made a gasket to cover the entire area of this aux air valve, but it blew apart when i turboed the old 4A

okay well if my gen 3 3sge is anything to go off, A - coolant, b coolant return line, C - idle up valve ~mine just has a mini pod filter on it from auto barn the ones from the oil catch cans.~ and D - is the vac line that connect to the cam cover. hope that helps:

that liquid metal stuff is good for filling these holes. the metal tubing should pull out with some vice-grips and twisting
