Default 4age rwd waterpump and thermostat

ok ive had my 4agte running for a year or so and im sick of the remote thermostat setup. id like to swap over to the ae86 rwd setup including the themostat housing. i dont run a clutch fan. and can deal with modifying my alternator bracket.

question 1, if i buy a complete assembly from toyota, will it come with the themostat housing parts?

question 2, will it bolt onto my 100kw 4age?

question 3, will the pulleys line up? if not what should i change to make it work?

question 4, anything else i need to keep in mind?

ive searched and got conflicting results, id like some conformation before i shell out my hard earned!

Q1 - No idea. Don't quote me but I think that the rwd waterpump does come with the right back housing you will need. You will still need the inlet housing that has the thermostat

Q2 - Yes bolts onto my 100kw no problems

Q3 - If you use the rwd waterpump you must use the rwd waterpump pulley so that it lines up with the main crank pulley. You can use the fwd waterpump and fwp pulley with the rwp backing too if you are using a thermofan

Q4 - You will need the metal lines running from the rwd waterpump to the rear of the head. Also for the 100kw with the external oil drain from the head the rubber drain pipe interferes with these metal pipes in the stock location. I think you can rotate the fitting in the block so that it points away from the metal pipes and you will be right. I can take pics of this if you need as I need to see if this will work for me as my motor is still pulled down. Also as you mentioned the alternator brackets must be modified to make the alternator lower or use the rwd alternator brackets.

i'm also interested in this as i don't want to do it the messy way
i havent been able to come across a RWD waterpump pulley though AND the RWD top cylinder head outlet. they are hard to get.
in saying that you can get the underdriven pulleys ect off ebay, but $$$

    Ok, here's the deal.

If you buy a water pump you dont get the back 1/2 normally,

and for what you want you dont need a water pump anyway,

you only need the back housing.

The difference is the water pumps is,

The RWD water pump has a heavy duty bearing to support the mechanical fan,
and so needs the RWD pulley to match it as the flange is out further.

As long as you use the pulley that suits the pump, everything will line up.

What you want to do is keep your water pump and pulley, and just use a rear housing and thermostat cover. You can use than off a 3A rwd engine if you want as they are the same.

No too sure sure what you have at the moment for a top outlet,
but chances are you can still use the same part.

    I would presume so,

As long as your aussie 4AC is the same as our 3A here in NZ.

But a smallport front half of the pump definatly does bolts to the rear 1/2 of a RWD 4age one,

    u can
but as per sam_q's worklog - you may have to grind down the impellor wheel inside the front half as it may foul on it.
