    Default 21R into RA40 Conversion

Hi, I have an RA40 celica with an 18r that has a shaggith bottom end with a timing chain rattle worse than anything i've ever heard, leaky valve seals and worn out piston rings..
So I picked up an ra60 recently with a 21rc that's in fairly good condition, and was wondering if it was much of an effort to convert into my ra40, gearbox and diff as well.
I've heard it's a straight bolt up since they're both 2litres with the same block and tran patterns etc. Only thing to consider is the intake on the otherside since it is a crossflow head.

It's been done, In fact I have test driven this: http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/gleng...upe/1012404953

I talked to the guy and he said his mate did it and had it regency approved, So he ended up purchasing it. It's weird driving an RA40 with a 21RC, Feels like an RA60 but old... Hard to explain, It's just not right I didn't buy it though as I settled for my current daily with 18RG.

Being crossflow it would be no different to going 18RG. Just convert accelerator to cable operated. The diff center should be a straight swap but the diff as a whole might not be, I think they have different mounts.

Go 18RG! So much better then a 21R

Should be a pretty easy conversion, I'm not sure why you would change the diff though, afaik they are the same ratio and size.
Looking for a new toy. If you have something 18r powered let me know.

RIP, where ever you are :- 1974 celica, 3tgte and 186.5hp at 6500rpm
