Thoughts on turbo blankets?

For:
Reduces under-bonnet heat, protects nearby components from heat damage

Against:
Cooks turbo?

Any thoughts on these? The KKR-430 will be close to my clutch & brake masters and I need to shield them somehow. I'm concerned about reducing turbo life or other problems associated with the turbo being baked though.

For: You can achieve this by shielding the individual components as neccesary.

Against: With adequate cooling to the water and oil supply of the turbo you shouldn't be at much more risk than the factory heat shields they use on some turbos.

I had one on the T28 on my 4AGTE for about a month, it obviously did a good job of trapping the heat cause the exhaust housing had a blue tinge afterwards Downside was that the 8mm studs for the dump pipe kept snapping. Removed the turbo bag and no more breakages. And no, they weren't garden-variety cut offs from threaded rod from Bunnings either

Make sure you have a fire extinguisher.

I've seen one of these catch fire before, and know of someone who also had the same issue.
