A paypal account is actually free if you're transferring an amount greater than $160 (used to be like this as SRC has an aacount). Under that it's a 1.6% fee and i wouldnt mind paying $1 and save myself alot of effort
This has been suggested before![]()
we dont have to bug the mods, let them do their thing

I have been pruned by old man river!!!!!
Any money comming into the account attracts a fee as well. (from credit cards)
The issue revolves around linking an amount of money to a membership form. this is what is being looked into.

Without trying to push too many of the wrong buttons I find it highly unlikely that Toymods needs an original signature to give membership.Originally Posted by whatthe?

But that aside a signature isn't worth anything unless there is a witness to verify it.
But like I said, I'm not here to push it, I'm just trying put something in to perspective.
Just FYI I am yet to pay for last year membership, let alone this years. Purely because I never manage to think of it while I'm at home.
However, if I could pay over the net some how you'll most likely get last years, this years, and next years payment within 5 mins of letting me know how I could do it.
And I have NO doubts that I'm not the only person like this.

We realise this.
In short we need to look at how the constitution is worded, and what the department of fair trading require us to do as far as paper trail.
If it were up to us not such a drama but working with government body red tape is a pain.
We also realise that this is a good move if it can be suitably organised.

The car club constitution (a document which is approved in current form by Fair Trading and necessary as part of the club's non-profit organisation status) currently states a need for original signed documents.
I'm sure if there is a work-around the board will find it.

Hey Guys, I started this link and I must admit I think you are making it harder than it needs to be.
Firstly..... The costs should be a no issue as the increase of memberships will far out weigh any costs associated with CC or other payment options.
Secondly.... I dont know who is giving you advise, but the days of signature are long gone for purchases over the internet. ECommerce has come along way and payment to terms of condition listed is binding.
I don't mean to be patronising, but if you need advise I can assist you with this as I work as a Senior Business Analyst in this field.
Another suggestion to ensure you get significant increase of membership to cover the costs associated with set-up is to make members financial for all new threads in the classifieds area.
One last parting one, if you really want a relationship with the paper trial, how about you send the sign up letter after payment is recieved and withhold any stickers or membership mechandise until recieved.
Anyway I have said enough but the more financial the club, the better the experience for members will be.

As stated above they need to look at how the Toymods constitution is worded.
Rewriting the constitution is not a 5 minute thing.

why does the club need to be financial? it is not a business?Originally Posted by zuludan
i don't think making it easier to remote pay will increase the number of people getting to meetings, or cruises or events... so how will it improve the experience for members? by paying more?
should the club actively try to get many more members, just so they can pay off the credit card facilities?
you wouldn't happen to work fro a credit card company?
hmm, lastly, the classifieds section is a bonus to club members and forum members alike... i'm sure there was discussion about limiting it to financial members previously...
heck people complain enough now abotu the classifieds not being open enough
edit: what are typical costs?
from some adevertising on the net.. $50 per month, or $350 per year etc...
at least a few hundred per year (and may require merchant bank account)...
hoe many members do you think there are and will join if they can send money by card?

dont you have to give a cheque to a bank and you dont get it back if you want teh moneys?
how is that a paper trail?
you bank statement will give records from anyone who dd your account.
i paid with cash last time via my brother i never signed anything, so theres even less of a paper trail, whoever took my cash could have just pocketed it.
internet banking is so much easyer, not many people go to the post office anymore, unless you are like a pensioner or something (sorry oc)

fwiw: the Qld TCCA allow direct deposit to the club bank account if requested - they have to send in the signed membership form anyway, but need only note on it how they paid their membership.
We ask that people include their name on the transaction description so our treasurer can match bank activity with membership applications and send out receipts where required.
common stewy thats a load of shit. post office is open retarded fed govt working hours, closes at 4pm, isnt open on weekends. i for one rank getting to the post office a fuckin a-hole of a job, and anyone who knows how reliable i am at sending stuff agrees. thats why i have a large PO box - atleast i can pick my mail/small parcels up after hoursOriginally Posted by oldcorollas
paper trail is also a BS excuse, but i do recognise that changing the payment infrastructure will take *someone* some time, and given the way the club runs, this time is already stretched an undesirable.
Paypal is an extraordinarily efficient and convenient way of documenting and tracking payments from individuals. having now run 3 or 4 group buys ENTIRELY through paypal, i cant believe how much easier it is.
you can even generate a simple click icon which will lead you through a cutomised checkout process, and it logs everything
i cant see how this change would be a bad thing at all... EXCEPT for the fact that the club would suddenly have a buttload more paid members, and the workload of the club council would hence increase to service these people, get their stickers and t-shirts manufactured and sent out (which appears to be a big PITA)... etc etc
if it were me, why would i want more members?![]()
