Default sw20 elec power steering pump ??

anyone have much of a play with these things?

specifically what is needed ecu wise to drive them? can you didtch the dedicated toyota ecu(s) control system and hook them straight up to an autronic etc? what kind of control do they need? signalling? pressure feedback?

any details whatsoever would be useful!

    cheers

Ive only played with the input signal from pws ecu to engine ecu.

you'll need a signal thats capable of cutting on and off when required. apparently after 60+kms it turns off

I know when it is stationary, ps will indicate on the pfc that somebody is turning the wheel thus kicking in.

I looked into this a while ago to get some assistance into my EP91, the 20V kinda puts the PS pump where the chassis rail wants to be. Decided that it's a girly man car that didn't need PS anyway.

From what I've read it's almost a standalone system independent of the engine control ECU. All you need is a MR2 front cut, oh the many thousands that have been crushed in japan

I had a guy from a ECU mob come by a while ago to ask us if we had any Yaris' to grab the electro assit steer. For his Cappabusa............
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new

Guys use them in speedway over here on stock cars, no ECU is used just run them full time.

yup, i got the pump and the bundle of ecus didnt get a steering sensor though

i suspect ill try as above - run full time, and let the pwm solenoid on the rack itself do a little bit of regulating. mos is on the case anyway - we'll see what he thinks

    nice bit of kit though
