Large 12v solenoide valve

How about the solenoid out of a irrigation sprinkler valve,they are 12v.

I grabbed one them to play with, they don't seem to flow very well..

What voltage are sprinkler solenoids? 12 or 24?

Most(all the ones i have seen?)of them are 12 volt

some garden solenoids are peak-and hold things - and i think some of cheaper jobs are AC not DC driven.
