    Default sw20r mr2 help!

hi i was hope somebody could help me i have just bought a 94 mr2 and it is my first car. When i start it up when the motor is cold there is a short knocking noise. My dad thinks it could be something to do with the oil pump ? any ideas and how do i fix it.

check the oil level first to see how much there is in there.

knock rattle could be something physically loose too. how long before the noise disappears?

My mates MR2 had a simmilar problem. As it warmed up its got less prenounced but still there. Turns out it was the exaust manifold gasket.

It could also be a dead lifter if it sounds like its comming from the top of the motor...

they dont ever get "dead lifters". They do have numerous oiling/oil pump/bearing issues. I fix these things all day long. see article on 3SG's at www.roadandtrack.net.au if you want more help
