koni thats it
hey guys,
im in a bit of a pickle
ive just ordered some KONI adjustable inserts for a SW20 mr2 rear's, (for the front of the celica in XT130 coilover setup, )
BUT, theres NIL stock in AUS, and will have to come from HOLLAND, 6-8 WEEK WAIT!....![]()
they have KYB AGX adjustable in stock, theres only a $20 difference between the KYB and KONI....
price is not the problem, im trying the get the car together and ready for Dubbo.
so how do you guys rate the KYB AGX's compared to the KONI's?
all advice and info appreciated![]()
cheers, Blake![]()

The Koni's are far better from what I have heard. Try orderring them from www.twosrus.com, most people seem to get their gear in about a week from there.
I have had both and I thought the KYB's were less harsh and easily adjustable. I don't think you lose anything by going KYB and I'm choosing those for my MX83 instead of Koni's.
i'll have to get in contact with them!Originally Posted by Joshstix
I've got KYB AGX in the front of the celica (sw20 like your plan) and Koni yellows in the rear.
After 5000km or so the KYB are going great, easy to adjust, good range of adjustment. The koni's are making some bad noises. I'll be replacing them for KYB AGX in the near future.
My vote is for the KYB.. But each to their ownI might have just been unlucky.
im so stuck inbetween atm,
i'll be doing some searching tonight, see what i can come up with, i honestly havent heard anything bad about the AGX, first hand,
ive tried avery bloody susp stockist in NSW, and a few other around AUS, getting the same answers, 6-8 weeks![]()
I bought a full set of koni's once. But after developing leaks within about 10,000kms I won't be buying konis again.
Ive got a set of kyb agx from a st185 to put into my ae86 struts chose them over the koni yellows for the fact that they are alot easier to adjust rather then having to compress the shock and then turn them , just easier to adjust from the top of the shock shaft.
I've had my koni reds for a few years now, absolutely love them, and absolutely no issues whatsoever.
Plenty of track days, several a year. Rate them as one of the best things i've done on the car. And they're externally adjustable, easy as. No kyb experience so you'll have to listen to other people's praise for them, and decide what's most important to you. With minimal price difference i'd be jumping at the koni's, but can you wait?

had konis for a bit over a year now... coupled with anti-sway bars and strut braces, makes the car handle a lot better than stock.. i'm using progressive rate springs with them
with the leak issue, i've heard that some springs (stock or chopped) are not compatible with koni adjustables, but this is just what i've been told.. then again, nobody i know uses stock springs with them and never seen anyone of them leak (except from a smash, which rooted everything under the car)
Research has shown child in front seat causes accidents, accident in back seat causes child
I have those exact AGX inserts (rear SW20) in my coilovers. I rate them.
If only they made AGX shocks for more models...
