    Well my 86 went over the pits today and the examination report was alot nicer than I expected:

    * indicator to cancel out
    * horn to operate (haven't connected the wire to my nardi)
    * windscreen washer hose needs connecting
    * repair ripped seat
    * seatbelt to retract
    * movement in steering (?? all the bushes etc are brand new ??)
    * diff leak needs rectifying (its a locker!!)
    * rectify running performance on fuel line (???)
    * fit immobiliser

    thats it.

    I'll have to see the examiner people tomorrow to clarify some stuff but overall not too bad I think.

    Add to the defect list that your sig needs to be 5 lines

    Check the bushes inside your rack, they may be starting to crumble. Quite a cheap part, not too hard to install, big PITA is that you need to pull out the rack to do it though

    I would be asking for further clarification on the fuel line issue. Oh, and next time you take it to them, pull your rotor button out, and tell them thats your immobiliser

    thats the stupid part,

    filling an unleaded car with diesel usually does no harm (besides draining tank)

    where as you fill a diesel with unleaded, and you cause all sorts of dramas!

    ie, a new diesel landrover is $20,000 to repair if you fill it with unleaded, (as everything has to be replaced due to contamination!)

    I got them to clarify the fuel line issue - they actually meant that the clutch wasn't smooth enough, which isn't surprising since its a drift clutch. I told them it is a "heavy duty clutch": and they said that to "just try and get it to run a bit smoother". Not sure what to do about that other than put in a "normal" clutch for him or something, or maybe a lighter flywheel???...

    If he said 'rectify running performance on fuel line' when he meant to say 'your clutch is too fully sik brew', then what kind of a mechanic is he?? I would be pissed that you were forced to let a retard touch your car!! What kind of clutch is it?? Pucker?? Put in a twin plate clutch, all the bite you will ever need, and none of the defect hassles!! Maybe a less aggressive clutch plate?? Allow it to slip a touch?? You can always change it back out.

    Oh, and your sig is still more than 5 lines.

    Yes that also puzzled me.

    But mine passed the pits widout a working immobiliser. It's only mandatory if your gonna sell the car to have a working one.

    But having a working one is just good sense I guess hehe

    Also, I forgot to clamp down my battery as tight as it normally is. But I still passed

    Yeah, got em here in ACT. Not even lawnmower mechanics, they do a short government course on how to inspect cars. The most serious deficieny in the course, is absolutely no people skills are taught.

    cheers Chuck.

    You get as many inspections as you need, you just have to pay for them!
