Default auto box gear change, does this seem right??

ok so ive got my supra back on the road now sporting the auto box, i still havent recieved my controller from america yet so it has NO WIRING CONNECTED AT ALL.

Took it for a drive just to see wot would happen and this is what i got.

Using the shifter to select gears, i got 1st in L, then i bump her into 2 and i THINK its changing into 3rd instead of 2nd and then i bump it into D and I THINK its changing into OD.

Does this seem like wot should happen with no electrics connected at all?

Another clue i have is that if i rev it to about 7800 in first (L) then Bump it into (2) the revs seem to drop down to around 3500, which to me seems a bit too low to be going into 2nd gear after such long revs in 1st.
Can anyone shed some light for me??

I dont expect it to work properly without the special controller, however if for some reason it is actually changing into 2nd then i might aswell rip it all out now, cos its not even on boost when it grabs the next gear after first due to low revs. Im hoping it is grabbing 3rd

    Cheers

    lol 7800rpm in first

one option would be to get auto ecu

but that defeats the purpose with ur mines ecu

Yes, that is how it will act with no power to the solenoids. I would NOT recommend revving it hard in 1st at all until you have your wiring sorted as you will burn the clutches.

Ok sweet as, no more thrashing then

Rob the 1jz loves revving high with these laggy ass turbos hehe

Now i can wait to get my Suprastick auto ecu

Chris will it even burn the clutches if i rev hard but dont shift into 3rd? or did you mean then shifting into 3rd will put to much pressure on clutches? Cos it doesnt seem to slip at all in first, but if its a concern i'l refrain..........somehow

I wouldn't think so but I wouldn't try it personally.

Seak aka MS75 told me that he stuffed his box when testing the MV shift box out and they didn't realise it didn't have power to the solenoids. I would just wait a little bit before flogging it at all to be safe.

ok sounds like its not worth the risk....

Hey im using the chaser box which i believe you are also using? Would you happen to know which of the coloured wires controls each of the 3 solenoids?
I mean the wires which go into the box to the solenoids, do you know which coloured wires control which solenoid?

hmm ok so according to that diagram if i wired a switch to solenoid number 2 with 12 volts then when i have L selected i could have 1st then flick 12v switch to get second then shift lever into (2) to get 3rd and then shift lever into (d) to get OD hehe

Or i could wait till my suprastick ecu gets here and do it properly im not known for being too patient......

Cheers Wilbo, very good info there!!
