Default 2tc ta22 fuel tank pressurising maybe

hey guys, on rare occasions i have found that on a hot day, and my car has been sitting in direct sunlight, i will start my car with no issues, but after a short drive, 1-2 mins, i find the car behaving as if i was running out of fuel.

the car if not continually made to turn over, (effectively roll starting the engine constantly, and taking it up to high revs 4000-5000 the engine will stall. after about 25 secs of coughing and spluttering, dieing and firing the problem fixes itself and car drives normally.

although if the car does actually stall, and you pull over, or werent moving when the car first started misbehaving. after checking the fuel bowl in the carby i find it to be empty.

solution - removing both the return and inlet lines into the carby, and blowing into the return fuel line till the fuel starts flowing in the lines again and comes out of the filler line.

i believe this to be a result of the fuel tank pressurizing as a result of temperature, or the fuel pump buggering around, or on another note, air somehow getting in the lines, rendering the mechanical fuel pump useless (possibly due to pressurisation).

thought i pretty much had the issue sorted, but recently the car is beggining to do itnot when neccesarily when it is actually hot, but in the most recent case, the car was out in the sun all day, i drove it home from work, (hot day..35+) no issues, sitting at lights at about 90degrees, would cool to 80 when moving. got home, still no issues, hour and ahalf later, get in my car, outside temp down to 25 by now drive for about 40 secs and buggering around occurs.

    my question is,
    - why is this happening, is it pressurising??,
    - how do i stop it from occuring at all in the future, making the car more reliable
    - has anyone else had similiar issues.

cheers guys, and in the case where i have missed this topic discussed before, please direct and delete.

I had a similar issue, the reason it is happening is because of the heat. 35 degree temps and direct sunlight for 3 hours caused my tank to pressurise. Solved the problem by blowing compressed air down the return line, as you have done, and drilled a small hole in the valve on the petrol tank cap to release pressure.
