    Default 2JGTE VVTI wiring issues

Hi there guys, thought I would see if anyone has any advice for me.

I have got a 2JZGTEvvti out of a 98 supra in my project, I had it wired up by sideshow and the car starts and drives. Boost comes on and as soon as load builds up the car dies at around 2000-2400 rpm just goes like its out of fuel. I have checked fuel pressure, and I have run diagnostics on it.
The motor is out of an auto supra but was running a manual box in the half cut I got it out of. it is currently running as a manual, so I have a bunch of error codes for the auto, and I have no traction control ecu (not sure if there is supposed to be one)
The error code that seems to be most recurring is knock sensor 1. upon inspection I can find 5 wires with continuity from knock sensor 2 to the ecu but no wires with continuity from knock sensor 1 to the ecu.
It is really frustrating to have such a great engine and not be able to go fast, anyone got any ideas about what might be causing this.

also may be of interest for experts is that my ecu has an extra seperate plaug on the end that sideshow said was security in some US spec supras, the plug only had 4 wires on it. To this day I have no idea what it was.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Its a weird system, its an electronic throttle body, that seems like it should be fly by wire but it is controlled by a manual cable actuator that converts the position to an electronic signal and the butterfly is then operated by the ETC on the opposite side of the throttle body

Unfortunatly it could be one of about 50 things , the vvti ecu,s are so smart and have shitloads of inputs and with missing lots its upset , You prob can figure it out but its all a time thing . Aftermarket ECU ???

Part of the reason for going with the 98 + motor is the VVT, if I go any aftermarket ecu other than a motec I will lose the vvt. and a fully setup and tuned motec, I would be luck to get in under 6 K. I saw an article a tuning house wrote on installing an autronic but they couldn't get the vvt working properly.

The only other option I can see is to try to find a manual ecu and loom to suit..

Talk to Ray Hall from Cairns. He is the Autronic dealer up there and has a 2JZGTE VVTi in his Lexus running extremely well with Autronic SM4 controlling everything. Details are on the Autronic website.

and I've got a SM4 in my supra, running the VVTi motor. VVTi will be hooked up and tuned in 2 weeks time, so if you want to pop by and have a chat some time, pm me.

Haltech will do VVTi as well, and there is at least one other ECU but I can't recall at the moment. The days of Motec being the only option are long gone, there are options aplenty now.

The manual ecu still has all of the inputs for traction control and ABS , etc Its a shame we cant tune toyota ecu,s and disable some functions like with aftermarket.

norbie: the other is the new wolf V500... motec and autronic still being the most widely used options.
