    Default Supercharging and factory ECUs

I'm presently musing over the thoughts of Supercharging my 2TGEU, and in the course of my investigations I have heard rumours of a way to use the factory ECU and not upgrading to an aftermarket computer. From what I've heard this is achieved through splicing a resistor circuit between the temp sender and the ECU. The resistor tells the computer that the engine is running colder than it really is and more fuel is added to the mix to stop the engine leaning out when the SC is turned on.

Has anyone else done/heard of this?

this is doable but patch up thing at best, just fork out for an ecu, seriously all you are gonna do it run it lean and detonate, ecu saves fucking an engine or two

I purchased a Lebtech for my 4AGZE on these forums for $250. It may not be cutting edge, but it'll do the job.

You can hunt around and pick up a second hand preconfigured ECU for pretty cheap. Running your pride and joy on the factory ECU would be asking for trouble, and IMHO a silly thing to do. Think about your poor engine.

The software required Win95 or better, so I installed Linux.

your engine does not use twice as much fuel when cold as when hot.
so... you can7t run sayy.. 10-12psi boost.

the older ECU's are fairly analog, but thats still a shit way to do it

I had a chat to Dick from Dick's Electronics. He's tried this method in the past and it appears it doesn't work. The main problem is it only gives a bit more fuel, but is not proportional to the amount of boost so it still will lean out.

    Bigger injectors?
Will prob mess with your idle n stuff though... there are probably ways around that.

2TGEU is AFM, right? With AFM it will run "safely" up until the maximum of the AFM...
You could get larger injectors or increase fuel pressure and increase the tension on the AFM spring.
These are all bandaid solutions, and while they might work they're still dodgy, and that's not even thinking of ignition timing which isn't appropriate for a boosted application.
