Phantom fixes like that are a little worrying as the problem may resurface later at usually the most inapproriate time.

If nothing more than removing tape "fixed" the problem then it would point to a bad connection or break in the wiring somewhere possibly.

Give the wiring a move and jiggle at various locations while the car is running and see if it stalls or stutters at all whille doing so. If it does then try to pin point the problem. If it seems all sweet then tape it up and drive in fear of an imminent break down

    Good luck with it.

    YelloRolla's KE20 1/4mi = 11.32 @ 119mph @ 22psi on slicks
    12.44 @ 113 mph on 165 wide street tyres
210rwkw - not bad for a smelly 3TGTE running pump fuel.

Well took her for a good test drive. with a dodgy exhaust she still pulled hard from 4-5.5 grand. Much more poke than the old 2t with weber extractors and lumpy cam. I also think she's a tad lighter on the steering too .
Over all the temp range stayed around 70 deg. on the gauge, don't know how acurate it really is . the theromstat seemed t open, the radiator was warm down below, so overall I'm pretty stoked.
now next month I'll get a proper exhaust when I have spare $$ to play with.
What size do you guys recommend?
I was thinking 2 1/4 with hotdog in the middle and rear sports box into a 3 inch dump.
also after a few drives should I recheck the head bolts? or should they be right?
Thanks again guys for all the input you all saved my sanity from being beaten to a pulp
