    Default Installing Aristo Coilovers

Has anyone removed their original Aristo struts and replaced them? I took my Aristo to a suspension place that I have previously dealt with and been happy with. But he called me today and said he was unable to remove the old struts but I don't understand what his problem is.

If someone has done this before and know wtf he is having problems with, can you please let me know so I can inform him, thanks.

They probably saw the wiring running to the strut tops for the electronic ride control and didn't want to disconnect it. You lose this feature when you install coilovers in the 147. I'm just about to install TEIN HAs in my car.

    Cheers,

Well I have had work done there before and so has my brother, he was good last time, and reasonably priced.

Too much homebrew and horse sex seems to have inhibited his abilities.

Just finished installing TEIN HA coilovers in my Aristo this morning.

    The rears were straightforward:

Remove boot lining, undo the three nuts that hold the tops in, remove the bolt in bottom of strut. Remove the caliper and have someone stand on the disc to push it down enough to pull the strut clear. Installation is reverse. Allow about 1 hour, including time to jack car, remove wheel etc.

    The fronts:

Remove wheel, undo three nuts at the strut brace, remove nut and bolt holding sway bar up, remove lower bolt. It will be easier if you also take out the upper A-arm castle nut and split pin so that the suspension can hang down, making it easier to remove strut. Installation is reverse. Reinstall strut brace before doing up the three nuts.

    Allow about 1 hour.

    Couldn't be easier.

Ride is much firmer but not bone shaking. I installed my TEINs with the locking plates at their lowest.

    Cheers,

    Peter
