Default W55/7/8 Shifter Was Sloppy Now Too Tight(SOLVED)

I have a w5* im my ke30 corolla. However im not sure which one it is.

I did have a sloppy shifter, so i replaced the bush on the end of the actual shifter ball, and also i **Put In** a new bush (the green one) into where the shifter bolts into. Now its really tight. Very hard to find the gears. Almost like theres not enough oil on the bushes to make them move smoothly.

The green bush wasnt there before. And no sign of it either so i guess it wasnt ever there.(definetly not in the oil)

So the question i have is:

Do all the w5* series shifters(apart from remote) need to have this green bush?
Also what can i do to make it a little bit looser?

I took it for a drive to try and get the oil to get upto the bushes to lubricate them but its still the same when i got home.

Any info from guys that have changed the bushes would be great too.

    I used these part numbers:

    Green Bush = PN# 33505-35020
    White Bush = PN# 33548-31010

I'm unsure on the part #s, but I replaced those 2 in my W58 (two and a half years ago so it's a bit hazy) and had no tightness issues. Have you tried taking it out, lubing it all and checking everything looks right?

I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.

Yeah thats what im about to do right now. Should i add some grease to it or will that mix with the oil and be no good?

I think you may as well just use gearbox oil on it, that's what it'll be getting, if anything, in future while it's installed.

Lucky it's easy to install and pull out again.

a bit of greas wont do any harn to the box oil,

on the end of the shifter you have a plastic clip on bush, which sits in the selector,

then above that there the round greeen cup which sits under the ball,
    (check that green cup spacer)
there may be a black rubber spacer under the green cup (remove that and the shift should be a bit easier.
as that bush can be spaced up for a tighter shift (same as how mine is now)

If it is still tight after a grease it might be possible that you are trying to use a W50 shifter in a W5x (alloy) gearbox...?

W50 shifter balls (the ball that sits on the green bush) are a few mm larger than W5x alloy balls ...

    Cheers

yep removed and its now looser.

Only problem is now its too loose. Maybe ill find something half the thickness and stick it to it.

    It peeled straight off.

    Thanx guys.
