just tell your insurance company when its done and tell them vicroads ok'd it.
ive always done it over the phone for engine number changes, but a mate had to go in and show them.. guess it just depends on which person ya get.. same as everything ya do at vicroads![]()

i've recently rang up the 13 11 71 vicroads number, and said i wanted to change my engine details, they said print and fill out the change of vehicle details form available on the website, and then take that into a vicroads office (not needing an appointment) with the car as they will need to cite the engine and its number for them to change it on their system. i haven't as yet pushed the envelope with my 3k -> 5k conversion, that will happen sometime after new years.
of the 2 engineers i've had discussions with, both have said that i won't be needing an eng. cert. as i'm not modifying anything, mounts, cutting, removing, welding etc. but given the 5k didn't some in a ke20, i think i'm gonna have some hassles with vicroads...

Theres ways around everything you just have work it out.
As for the quote that Toyota bought in GT Celica's with 2TG or 18RG's, when going to buy parts for these motors 25 years ago, most Toyota dealers were told these motors never existed and buying parts was impossible unless you stood your ground.

my understanding was you need an engineers certificate if the engine you are putting in is:
- not offered as an option in that model car by the manufacturer in australia
- gaining more than 10% mass or power
*All this rests on the vicroads you attend and how knowledgeable the staff members are.

the VSI's dont say anything about power 10% increase, however it does say similar in power, weight and emissions etc. dont think you'll have a problem personally, unless you get an arsehole vicroads officer. they've usually got their hands full of dodgey skylines and commodores these days!

To be frank, Toymods is a serious forum and it is important that people understand their obligations when modifying their cars. It is not good enough to say "She'll be right if you can get it past vicroads"
