    hey dude,

I own a 2jz-gte vvti. with the factory twins, power from 1500-5000 was really, really impressive. if your power goal is less than ~280rwkw, I'd be keeping those factory puppies.
If your power goal is more than 280rwkw, then you're going to have to spend a LOT of money to have big power/torque at 2000rpm... these are the sacrifices we make chasing big numbers from a 3L.

It can be done (custom sequential system, for example), or trying to use the factory system with 2 GT25/10s or something similar, but you're pushing shit up a hill compared to just fitting a GT35r and accepting that you have no boost below 3000rpm. It's more than compensated for by having 4000rpms of fun up the top!

or drop a s/c v8 in it, if your budget it properly unliimited

the standard twins are garbage and when you try to remove them in the car you will be looking for a sledge hammer.do yourself a favour and wack a gt garrett on it now and let that magnificent engine breathe.there are some guys on here that will slag me off for this but they know its only a matter of time before their twins are in the bin . cheers .bigwad

Isnt that what I said?? (except I was a little more diplomatic... guess not so much impact )... but I would be saying keep it as a twin setup, a single will be either laggy or not big enough to keep that kind of rev range.

Something in the GT35R series should do the trick nicely. 0.86 rear housing should spool quite well. GT30 series may be a bit small for a 2JZ. A GT30 series with a 1.06 rear housing may be OK though? I'd be calling Garrett for recommendations personally.

Or, contact Ray Hall's Turbocharging in Cairns, they are the gurus. I still think a single wont give you the range of the twins.
