Option 1 will fall short of 400rwhp. A CT-26 is good for 270 odd rwkw max. If you had the Turbo A exhaust housing maybe you could crack 400rwhp but otherwise not, and either way you'd be ringing its neck to do it.

35R will be the best bet.

I managed to get 485rwhp out of mine before I had the larger comp wheel put in, I was running a 1.06 ex so maybe you can go to a .86 ex housing if you are chasing 400rwhp

Does anyone know what the smallest Garrett T4 BB turbo is and how it would compare to a GT35R on a 1JZ?

Wondering if it would be worth while using the smallest BB turbo from the GT40 family on a T4 manifold rather than the largest BB T3 turbo (35R) on a T3 manifold... assuming a T4 manifold is superior to a T3 manifold?

I'm pretty sure the GT35R can be ordered with a T4 flange.

I also don't think there is any intrinsic benefit for a T4 housing over a T3 housing at this flow level. I don't have a whole heap of evidence to back that up other than my 3S. I had a twin scroll T04S with a .48 rear housing on it which made ~244rwkw at ~20psi. I got rid of it and had a new manifold made up in the same config but with a T3 flange and put a GT3582R with a .82 rear housing on it. That made ~288rwkw at ~20psi of boost but the big numbers don't tell the whole story it also made the power sooner in places it was almost 100rwkw p on the T04S performance.

For the original stated 400-450rwhp goals a GT3076R with a heap of boost or a GT3582R with a far bit less boost is the answer.

personally from what ive seen, without gas, over 350 rwkw, but under 400. all depends on what other mods have been carried out that effect performance (fuel, cams, internals ect ect).

Sweet, i want to aim for 350rwkw with E85, no gears, cams, internals or anything for that matter... We'll see how possible it is i suppose in a few months...

Did a search now digging up OLD thread

1jz on jzx81 purley for drifting, want reasonable response with hope of 300rwk

    what turbo suggestions

gt3582r sounds a touch too big maybe

    Also the gt3076r thoughts?
    Compared to the gt3071r?

    Any other suggestions?

you have to wring the 3076 pretty hard to crack 300, but id imagine it would be hard to beat for drift.

if you're not on a budget you could look into the mr billet range or turbonetics turbos...

gt35r with .86 ar is suprisingly pretty good
thats what i run, and dont have any problem for drift.

starts to come on hard about 3500rpm, and full boost by smidgen under 4k
nothing a good clutch kick wont fix anywhos

    yea righto

with the gt3082r and the 3582r both with a .82 turbine is there really much difference with spool times, or would yas reccomend just going with the 35 for more power or just headroom if i got greedy?

Sounds like the 3071 is too small then, so either the 3076, 3582 or the 3082.

Ill look into the turbonetics range

Stupid bloody turbos get confusing, love to drive all of them on the same set up lol
