i personally dont like running big boost on PULP but its not the fuels fault that it detonates as its the tuners job to ensure that it doesn't by either reducing timing or dumping more fuel in but neither of these are really power productive.

im just about to put a 3582 on my 1j chasing similar power to this guy and im debating the rear housing...
can someone give me pros and cons of the .63 and .82 rear housings? i dare say this will help others make up their mind about which turbo to select!
    cheers

so are you after 450rwhp or 400rwkw as in your sig?

Being a sil80 I am assuming it is for drifting?

    Need more details

i had the stop watch out to see how long it would take you to respond... hahaha
i will discuss my reasoning behind the thought at a later date away from prying ears...

at the end of the day its going to be drag, street and track, just want a meaty car with loads of power but still response, i know thats a contradiction but ide be happy to max out a .63 rear housing and be happy with the power... but having read some posts ive seen that response doesnt change all that much between the housings and i am running big cams with gears...

big cams as in HKS 264's, 272's?

If so, I would be going .8 rear if not 1.06

If they are 256's, I still think .8 as you may start to outflow the turbine housing in the top end if you are running some big boost.

yeah 264 inlet and 272 ex... thats what i was thinking... ill just deal with the slight loss of response from a .63 and get the mid and top end of the .82
cheers guys for all your info!!!

staggered cams are a waste of time, go 272 272, or 264 264

your going to have to put 28 psi into a 35r to get 530rwhp, your going to need race fuel and a manual; box

you also going to need a 1.06 rear to get that power, a .8 wont do it

ive seen plenty of examples of .82s and a .63 going over 500rwhp on lower boost and pump fuel...
will have to see how it goes, ill be sure to put the results up here as soon as i get it running

you can get any number by putting the temp reader on the exhaust manifold.

ive seen and owned and driven cars with that setup up, seen them tuned and run to back up the power figures made.

we can all live in fanstasy land where we all make 400rwkw with minimal mods, but in the real world with true dyno figures it doesnt happen.

a 2j with with a 1.06 35r will just push 500 rwhp, cams will give it a bit more, but the fact remains that turbo will only flow so much air.

if you can make 530rwhp it will run 130 mph all day long, hell in a light wieght car like yours it should go 133 134 mph.

2860lbs or 1300kg race weight, that power should trap 140mph

edit: that would make it the "fastest" 1j in oz BTW
