picture paints a thousand words.. hopefully
Well I finished putting my soarer back together after fitting a new bottom end and MHG/ARP studs, and I go fire it up for the first time... and no cranking. It was already late and my patience was thin to go chasing what was up, but I had the 12v feed connected, and the black terminal which I'm assuming goes back to the neutral relay then starter switch.
Unless i'm a total noob, that seems about right to me, but I've obviously missed something. I can hear both relays clicking, so i ruled that out. The only thing I could find that was odd is that I have two wires with ringends on them coming from the engine loom by the starter. One is orange with black stripes with a squarish ringend, other is white with green stripes. Do they have anything to do with the starter circuit? I had a look at the tsrm wiring diagrams but i could'nt make much sense of it.
Any help would be much appreciated, coz I'm reeeealy looking forward to taking this car out for a fang again!

those are earths - they'll be bolted to the engine or intake manifold somewhere
This is true. They live on one of the studs that holds the plenum to the runners.Originally Posted by thechuckster
Since youre getting the clicking when you turn the key, often a new starter relay hooked direct to the battery will solve these problems in Z20s. The wiring from the factory relay to the trigger on the starter seems to deteriorate over time. Witzl has a thread somewhere detailing the whole operation
Reattach those earth straps first though, may be an easy fix

got it figured, yeah they are earths as i suspected. the white one is earth for the fuel pump relay, orange i wasn't so sure what the relay was for, but it was near the engine bay fusebox. problem was bad connections in the neutral start circuit. cheers all!
