Not really looking to spend much on it, its in a 4x4 hilux on gas. Just simple stuff that cost next to nothing. Whats required to fit the xf carby? complete manifold or just an adapter. Already got extractors.

If you find the right motor, you can fit an 18RG for similar money to adapting and tuning an XF carb, changing out the cam, and doing a head job on the 18RC... the result will be far better too.

XF carb = Free if you now where to look
Adapter plate = $50 of ebay
Getting someone else to put it all together for you = $150

So far thats $200, and it will be a big improvement with the right exhaust

    Exhaust/extractors = $400

still cheap than and 18RG and less work

Deck head and VRS kit = $150
Cam and cam bearings = $200
Paying somebody to tune and re-jet it $150

So far thats $1100. You can get a running 18RG with extractors and carbs for about $700 (I have seen cheaper), and the rest of the zorst will cost about $200. Results are far better, and there is less work swapping it out (been there done that)

Well I bought a whole falcon for $250. Used the rims for my trailer. Its on gas so I have the mixer as well (my lux is on gas). I'll get $250 scrap for the XF and any bits I sell before then is a bonus.
Tuning the carb doesnt really apply since its gas, only needs to run well enough on petrol to get me to the nearest servo if I run out of gas so I'll play with that side of things myself. Might be able to just get the stock cam reground to save $$.
