I may come across as unappreciative but i don't mean to as previously mentioned!

All i'm saying is that there is worth Membership in Syd (not sure about other states) If i lived in Syd i would be a member 100%, so why can't we identify what is different from Syd based Toymoders and offer something similar for the other states.

I was waiting for someone to bring up the "why don't you do it" mentality and the answer is I would if i could, my job is very time demanding and unpredictable, I can't tell you if i will be in Melb next week! i may have a last minute decision to go to QLD or something, and there are some people that do a good job of representing Vic Toymoderes already, i'm sure if the offer was put forward they would be happy to help.

Roadrunner what do hope to achieve by attacking me? I'm just putting forward some suggestions, they may come across as stubborn but if thats the way you see my opinion your fighting fire with fire, and you can't put out a fire with fire can you?

    BTS and others,

In the 9 years or so I have been part of Toymods I have been active on the board for almost all of that time. The Toymods board, like yourself actually have lifes and jobs and families and commitments outside of Toymods. What makes you so special ??

I read over this thread and and the many many many threads like it that have occured over the years and the basic message that comes accross is this.

"Hi I want to bitch and whinge because the free service I am to much of a tight ass to support was offline for tiny percent of its existance at an annoying time while I needed it". This about where I cease to give a toss. Toymods is a community and with any community you get back what you put into it.

As Josh indicated, there are 8992 forum users - there are actually around 100 financial members. So that makes around 8900 people or almost 90% of forum users who choose not join for whatever reason. And honestly I have no problem with that. The "I supported Toymods" Thread gave/gives non financial members the chance to support the club if they felt it was worthy and whilst not recently but previously Toymods did receive support. The arguement of I don't get anything out of it whinge, bitch, whinge, something about living in another state is just Bullshit. The fact you choose to complain about when it is offline is a clear enough indication that perhaps Toymods is useful and you do get a benefit, when did Toymods become the online equivant of the dole ?

The simple fact is Toymods had to resort to paid advertising just to keep the site online and things will get better. At the end of the day the only opinions I really care for in a thread like this are those of the financial members, those members who took the time and spared some coin to support the club or those of our Forums sponsors.

Toymods will always work towards maintaining a better, faster and more reliable web presence, but resources are always limited so I suggest you put up or shut up and just appreciate what whats there already.

Better still how about the Toymods board just stops careing, the site can go offline, we can stop paying the hosting fee's and domian name charges, can the public liability insurance and government fees and just go back to being a local group of guys out having fun - maybe that would solve the problem ?

And for the record, you can put out fire with fire, all you need to do is consume the available oxygen faster than it can be replaced.

    End Rant

it's actually between 98 and 99% but I rounded down to 98 for nicety...

though I should have rounded up to 99% because it looks worse come to think of it.

Just to clarify I don't expect everyone who uses this forum to join the Toymods Car Club, in fact I am glad a lot don't. We have a very high quality club membership and I think the quality of person far outweighs numbers.

My point was aimed at the fact that the Toymods Car Club and it's board/members are the ones that provide the forums as a free of charge service to the greater Toyota Community. It's great to have so many different perspectives represented on the forum, some of them are even correct , so I'm not complaining about people using the resource we provide. What rubs me the wrong way is complaints that sound like we have some kind of SLA for server availability with someone who couldn't be bothered joining the club because they believe they get less than $50 per year of value out of the forums.

If the info and fun you get from the forums is less than $50 value per annum why bother complaining?

This isn't necessarily aimed at BTS, he's just the one the riled me up today.

why should i have to contribute more money towards the club than i already do? so YOU can get all the info you need, i doubt it.

ppl think because i run my own shop that i can afford all the things i ever dream of, what a load of shit. if i make 50K per year for the 80+hrs a week i would be suprised, not to mention the bullshit amount of stress and time wasting phonecalls i get.

i spend about 3hrs a day on here answering tech questions and replying to PMs even more in depth about the same conversions, why do i do it? to help ppl and for no other reason.

i go to every event/meeting i can afford to attend, i am a member and i even sponsor the forum (i would get the same work without it) because ive been helped by toymodders thru tough times and therefore give back everything i possibly can.

i do this because its my passion and no other reason, so how bout the other 98% of ppl on here do the same and put there hand in there pocket on occasion rather than relying on 2% and 6 or 8 sponsors?

just remember, i don't come on here for answers to my questions, YOU DO.

    end rant/

    well said rod

    cheers

im sure they could be organised but how can a group of guys in sydney organise to do events in VIC? what vic needs is someone like -GT- that can organise events like trackdays and such to go out on. there are probly heaps that would attend but someone needs the initiative to organise it.

im not saying you have to join the club but a donation would be a nice thing if you feel these forums do actually help you.

    cheers

I'm going to lock this thread because I don't want to see it turn nasty, but I'll summarise below.

Yes we know there are problems with not being able to access the forum.
Yes we know this is not optimal especially for our sponsors.
Yes we are moving the site to new hosting in an effort to stop the issue.

No I'm not receptive to people bitching about the quality of something provided free of charge.
