    yea i used the mobil1 5w synthetic oil in my s/c when i had it.

    ive alkways found it easy to change.. a syringe and a piece of vacuum hose about 12" long. worksa a treat,.

    so u guys ran mobil 5W motor oil?? or gear oil? yeh and mullett might take u up on ya offer to give me hand with upgrades let u know when i have more funds to play with

    they are the 2 most commonly used in the SC Mobil 5W synthetic (i think its motor oil) and Castrol Syntrax gear oil. take your pick of those 2, there is about a 50/50 split of people who swear by each.

    Personally i made the choice to go the castrol syntrax, not cheap though, $25 for a litre, lucky that lasts cause you only use about 330mL int he charger

    yeh looks like i might use the castrol oil.... how often should u change the s/c oil anyways?

    iirc toyotas serv ice schedule is 60,000km but it never hurts to be more regular

    Mine does not have a SC dipstick, but every other one i have seen does. It doesn't even have the hole where it should be.


    Also, whats up with not having an oil cooler, Is that an Oz only thing? All north american GZE's have them.

    hmmmmzzzz helll strange ....yeh i woulda thought the sc would have an oil cooler seeing the na had it ...wouldnt hurt having one.... is it worth investing in an oil cooler?

    quite possibly the american gze's came withg coolers ? or optional... remember id be very suprised if we ever got any american gze engines here given the ample supply coming out of japan.

    im working on fitting up the 3sgte cooler.. which fits i just havent had time to finalise it

    Ya. All north american GZEs came with them. At least everyone I've heard of. It's just a coolant type one, not an air type. Heres a pic. (disregard the fact that there is no engine)

    only problem with them is that they only cool overflow oil... the st185 o/w unit im installing cools *all* oil
