Sounds like you've put a line on the wrong way dude ? Can't really help u more than that.
Hey guys,
Basically in my st162 with a 3S-GE (which i recently put into the car, as a replacement for the old engine) fuel is absolutely pissing out of the charcoal canister, it comes from the metal fuel line, into a rubber hose and then into the charcoal canister, and out the bottom into the chassis rail.. BUT if i undo the fuelcap (it hisses for AGES letting air in/out not sure) the flow stops, and doesnt start again until about 30-40 minutes after putting the fuel cap back on... im a little confused about what could be causing this, theres only about 10 bucks of fuel in the tank, and i was under the assumption the charcoal canister line is above the fuel level? ie no liquid should be making it in, only vapour

ahhhhh fuel lines shouldn't be going into the charcol canister as far as i recall

hahahaha u doosh, thats what the charcoal canisters for.. it does something to the vapour to make it not smell / not be flammableOriginally Posted by wiso
its been a long time since i pulled anything like that apart, i was just trying to go off memory, maybe you have put the wrong fuel ine on it.
have you put the fuel return line from the rail to the canister by cahnce, cause i am sure thats not how it goes

heh thats alright mate, nah, basically, there are three pipes coming from the fuel tank, the big fat one, for the fuel supply, and two little ones, one goes to the charcoal can (breather), one goes to the fuel rail (return)... i may have gotten those two lines mixed up, will get in there and swap them tommorow..
Yeah give that a shot ... my brother had a similar problem (fuel pissing out of charcoal canister) in a Subaru and it was just mixed up fuel lines - just make sure the breather/return line aren't mixed up and you should be right.
Of course, if that doesn't work, then your charcoal canister is probably stuffzored.

fuel that sits creates vapour, this builds pressure in the tank, the idea of the charcoal canister is to vent this pressure build up without creating a fire hazard situation.
youve quite obviously hooked it up wrong, as the vapour has no where to go, as the return line (which youve currently got mixed up with the breather line) is under the level of fuel, which is why you have the massive pressure buildup when you fill up
switch the lines around and she'll be right mate

thanks guys, u lot are champions![]()
