What about those people not running ABS, eg me? I'm looking at getting one of these.
I am not using the speed signal from the auto at the moment (only the one from the dash/speedo cable), which would be better to use?
The idea of torque converter lockup in all gears appeals to me, plus the fun factor of a paddle-shifter if I choose to hook one up. Should help with drivability and fuel economy.

I know one guy who's running it on a 1jz/7m a340e and he loves it. Works a treat apparently.

Another guy has ordered one from the US based on the other guys results.

Kyosho, I'd be interseted in seeing yours once your done, I'm going to need some controller, and I'm not sure which one to get yet.

You can get it to lock all 4 gears, but it only locks 3rd and 4th off the throttle. 1st and 2nd unlock off the throttle as the gearbox requires that you lock the stick in 1st or 2nd to achieve a true lock in these gears.

I tried all kinds of setups with the lockup and found locking in 3rd at 60km/h and 4th of course is actually the best setup which is exactly how the factory ecu does it. Locking in 2nd is kind of weird and you have to unlock before changing gears as it'll fuck the converter. It does this automatically for you, you just set the increment. I refined the shift points over time. The current setup I have is pretty much perfect, feels like factory setup, but you can change the shift points at wot, especially useful if you get cams.

As for the speed sensor, I found my sensor on the gearbox was shithouse. Would vary wildly depending on gear and torque converter status. I use one of the rear abs sensors now, dead actuate.

I hooked up the paddle shifter function using the cruise control stick, basically one button controller that has variable voltage. This works average, doesn't always shift correctly. The best setup is a 2 button shift paddles as it has independent voltages from 0-12v for off and on. From accounts it works perfectly this way.

To do this correctly, you'd need a automated mechanical shifter to enable the correct points on the t-bar. I've talked to the maker of suprastick about this and it could be done, but very expensive and my feeling is it's not really worth doing.

im looking to purchase one of these any day now, unless kyosho has come up with something better/cheaper that he wants to start selling??
Gunna be using it with my 1jz, going back to auto for some drag runs......
Perfect solution to running with a manual ecu it seems.

The speedo cable in my car is rooted, the speedo needle wiggles up and down, but that is where my car gets its speed reading from (the dash). Since my car has no ABS, I'm left with the gearbox sensor Maybe its worth me hooking up a CRO to the gearbox speed sensor and jacking up the rear wheels to check the output?

I never get lockup in 3rd at the moment, only 4th. Although when the car has not reached operating temperature I get lockup in 3rd at around 60kph. Would this be an ECU issue?

Turn O/D to off and it should lock up in 3rd. Also the lock up in 3rd when it's cold is due to the ecu. It's a feature to get it up to temp faster I believe.

The engine or the transmission? Locking the torque converter would slow the auto's warmup process you'd think...

Maybe mine doesn't lockup in 3rd because it runs too cool, who knows...

Turning O/D off didn't make a difference. Might have to try another ECU sometime.

Nah, things won't be ready on mine for a lil bit.

Still coding, and sorting a touch of hardware out.
