Try the led light thing, but I'm not sure if you'll see them flick on/off.
You may need to do it in the dark to see.

Remember to check both ends of each cable too.

Have you tried new coils in your car?
    Checked plugs?

Therefore your LT10s doesnt have internal ignitors, so you will not be getting the same problem as mentioned by roof87.
I would suggest the problem is the X4 ignition box.

    Here is how to test.
    1. buy an LED test light. It must be an LED type.
    2. connect the + side of the test light to ignition 12V
    3. connect the NEG side to one of the ignition outputs from the ECU to the X4 box.
    4. Start the engine
    5. Look at the LED test light, it should be flashing.
    6. If it is, try the other ignition output on the ECU to the X4 box.
    7. If that is also flashing, there is a problem with your X4 box.

    8. Repeat above process testing the outputs from the X4 box to the NEG of your ignition coils. UNPLUG your ignition coils first, and test whilst you are cranking the starter motor. (this will avoid back EMF voltage spikes and stuff).

What this is doing is testing the NEGATIVE pulse that the ECU sends to the X4 box. Point 8 is testing the negative outputs from the X4 box to the coils... which im pretty sure is the problem, as you have given each output DOUBLE it's intended load.

    In fact, i'll wager $20 it's your X4 box.
I have already thought about this allot! and im going to agree with you kind sir...

after all you were the GENIUS that showed me how to rewire a 7gmte ignitor to work with a stock 4agze loom and ecu.

Yes the LED light testings will indicated the pulses comming out of the ecu and the X4box. - i assumed that you would just clip one of the test light on positive power and the probe of the tester on the tested object (in this case the looms in and out of the xbox) because the ecu is based on -ve circuit switching.

The ecu is mounted inside the car.. not in the engine bay.

yes i have given the channels double their intended load. - so i think its back to a new xbox ( picked one up about an hour ago) and stock ze coils for now.. that would be the best bet ey!

Yes - running the stock ignition system will be the safest option until you get your ECU re-programmed to handle 4 ignition outputs (4 x coils).

Glad to hear it's under control.

As a side note - you wanna give me the fried X4 box?

    whyz that?

just curious because you can get new ones for $100.00 + post.

ill be sending it back when i get my ecu remapped so ill have a spare i think.

what are your thoughts on the heat issues?? should be okay?

got the new x4box in last night.. put in the stock coils!

    runs like a treat!

the only question i have is.. will the heat from the firewall do damage to the ecu???

The firewall shouldnt be getting too hot anyway, so it should be ok i guess. Just try to have some good airflow around the microtech to ensure it gets enough ambient air to cool down.

I would also try to mount the X4 box a little away from the ECU, as the X4 box will be getting hot (it takes a lot of grunt to run ignition coils)

if the ECU is in the car, no... it shouldn't get any heat or damaged... the firewall is normally quite thick and insulated anyway..

excuse me while i hijack your thread

i got a Microtech MT-4 .. fuel only thing, and electronic ECU.. why is it everytime i start the car and hold it starting, the hand-controller reads the RPM to be 1000, then 5000, then 8000, then shift gears , check RPM, 250, 1000, 5000, 8000, shift gears (and repeat?) i noticed everytime it does that, the injectors really let 8000 rpms of fuel into the engine, which then floods it.. when i do get it to start, it reads RPM perfectly..

it's a rotary so if i can't really let go while starting until i get it to start... and the RPM signal is coming off the two coils there.. was wondering if i have to get the RPM signal from elsewhere? everything is plugged in fine, only the A/F ratio isn't plugged in, so it reads a steady 18.0 BTDC and everything else is fine..

whilst starting, the ignition signal will be erratic... and it seems your MT4 doesnt have much smarts to handle that during starting.

    Get a better ECU

    ^^

    i was afraid of that..

the car has a webber... two throttle, two trumpets, four injectors.. and electronic ignition.. i only need the ECU to run the injectors...

isn't there any way i can stabilise the ignition signal during cranking? there are times the microtech picks up 250 rpms at crank.. but when i let go and crank again it becomes all erratic...

The firewally is as tiick as the metal its made of.. insulated? nope.. no interior and no sound deadening.. and the exhaust runs under the floor on the passenger side.. so it does get quite hot..

i might just put a smalle peice of wood or something in there.. the distance between the ecy and ignitor is about 3 inches.

see the attached image ( it looks allot neater now.. but you get the idea, this was taken during the install)

Yeah that should be no problem.... Although what is there to stop your passenger kicking in the plugs and breaking the internals of the ECU? Hopefully they are protected somehow.....

Eazy, its a track car... NO PASSENGER!

I will carry a passenger this weekend for a Drift Scool but thats about it.. ill be putting a kick rail in front of them.

I generally only have 1 seat.
